Mrs Genevieve Naa Ayeley Cornelius

At aQweleywaabii, we believe a woman is most powerful when she is anchored in faith, purpose, and grace. The aQ Woman Series exists to tell the stories that awaken something deeper in women: stories of resilience, wisdom, sacrifice, and God-given strength.

For this July edition, we are honoured to share the story of a woman whose life is built on faith, resilience, and purpose. Behind her professional achievements is a simple woman who believes that with God, all things are possible, as long as they honour God, respect the law, and serve humanity. Her journey reminds us that success is not only about reaching milestones but also about staying true to your values along the way.

Raised by parents who sacrificed greatly to give their children opportunities they never had, she learned early lessons about hard work, perseverance, and dreaming beyond limitations. Through career changes, challenges, and moments of uncertainty, her faith has remained her anchor. In this conversation, she shares the experiences that shaped her, the lessons she has learned, and the wisdom she hopes will inspire women everywhere to trust God’s plan for their lives.

Ladies and gentlemen, meet Mrs Genevieve Naa Ayeley Cornelius, Managing Director of Transitions Ghana.

On the Woman Behind the Title

“A simple God-fearing woman who believes she can achieve all things, as long as it’s not against God, not against the law, and not against mankind.”

That is how Genevieve describes herself, not by the titles she has earned, but by the values she refuses to compromise.

On Family and Foundation

Every one of her defining moments, she says, traces back to one thing: the sacrifice her parents made so their children could become graduates when they themselves were not.

As the firstborn, she carried a quiet mandate to be a role model to her siblings, most of them women with one man. “We were raised to be there for each other, sharing bonds that sustain us through hardships,” she reflects. “Our parents never limited our visions or aspirations. We were allowed to dream and choose our own paths, always supported with prayer, guidance, and love.”

On Faith as Her Anchor

Faith, Genevieve says, has been the cornerstone of her journey. It shapes her decisions every day and gives her the courage to believe in impossibilities and trust the unknown.

That faith was tested most deeply when she walked away from a hard-won achievement, becoming a chartered insurer with the CII-UK, to move into project management in an industry few respected: the funeral industry. Barely a year in, the project was on the brink of collapse before it had even begun. Loved ones urged her to walk away and return to the familiar.

“There were moments of despair, questioning God, fear of failure,” she recalls. “But in the quietness of the dark, God’s voice was clear: ‘I did not bring you here to sink.’ I held on, one direction after another, and eventually, success was achieved.”

The lesson she carries from that season: seek God’s voice in the midst of the echoes. He never fails.

On Purpose Found in an Unlikely Place

What first pulled her into project management was the desire to become a T-shaped leader. But as she explored the funeral industry, she found something deeper: a calling to serve people at their most emotionally difficult moments. Death, she realised, touches everyone regardless of age, religion, or status, and the industry had a huge gap in the service experience it offered grieving families.

What keeps her going today is simple: the thank-you from the everyday client, and watching the industry itself rise in regulation, competition, and quality of service.

On the Toughest Season

A court injunction once froze her project for almost a year. Nothing moved. Uncertainty became her constant companion, and the “what ifs” were uncountable.

That season revealed a resilience and problem-solving instinct she still leans on today, distilled into a phrase her team hears often: “Every problem has a solution. Time is all that is required.”

On Balancing It All

We asked Genevieve how she balances family, ambition, and the demands of everyday life, and she has one word ready: planning. She carries a little black book everywhere and plans on paper almost every day, prioritising as life shifts through its different phases.

“Deploy your resources, especially your time, energy, and finances, to align with your priorities,” she advises. “And most important, seek God’s input in all things, Proverbs 5:3, and He will direct your path. He is interested not only in the big things, but every smallest aspect of life. It has worked, and is still working, for me.”

On Strength and the Legacy She Hopes to Leave

The lesson Genevieve wishes every woman knew earlier: we are stronger than we think. “From the biblical angle, we are made of a bone, not sand. God perfected all his creation in a woman. Strength is not necessarily loud. It’s all about positive impact, big or small.”

A random remark once became her legacy: “Transitions is Genevieve.” Her dream now is to pass that legacy forward, to build enduring, impactful visions and to carry them beyond the shores of Ghana.

Her Message to Every Young Woman

To the young woman standing at the edge of her dreams, afraid to take the next step, Genevieve’s advice is unflinching: “Take a leap of faith and leap into that dream. You do not need to check everything on that checklist. Plan and prepare to the best of your ability, pray about it, seek experienced advice, and just start. Whatever happens on the journey, trust the process, for every moment is growth.”

Mrs Genevieve Naa Ayeley Cornelius’s story is a powerful reminder that resilience is not about avoiding difficulties, but about finding strength and purpose through them.

Her message to the aQ women’s community is simple yet profound: you are stronger than you think. Dream boldly, prepare diligently, seek wisdom, and trust God with the rest. You do not need to have everything figured out before taking the first step. Sometimes, the greatest growth happens when you take a leap of faith and trust the journey ahead.

At aQweleywaabii, we believe every woman carries a story of courage, growth, and purpose. Our pieces are created for women just like her, women who lead with faith, embrace challenges, pursue their dreams, and leave a lasting impact wherever they go. Beyond clothing, we create timeless pieces that remind women to show up confidently, own their journey, and walk boldly in the woman they are becoming. Because when a woman is grounded in purpose and dressed in confidence, she doesn’t simply follow trends, she creates her own path.

Thank you, Mrs Genevieve, for reminding us that strength doesn’t have to be loud.
