aQweley Waabii is a Ghanaian brand specializing in ready-to- wear corporate clothing for the empowered woman. At the heart of the brand is the desire to educate and empower: Empower women to chase their dreams, empower the youth with creative skills, and empower women to break the status quo and pull each other up the corporate ladder.
Through the trial and error of building a business, she eventually crafted a niche in the market for her brand. That formed the foundation for the brand’s passion to create clothing that empowers women to succeed while encouraging the youth to learn vocational and entrepreneurial skills. Since then, the brand has trained and supported 8 young women with vocational skills and plans to hold larger training sessions to equip as many people as possible and eventually change lives.
Founded in 2017 by Sandra Akweley Martey, a creative and social activist, the brand was born out of the founder’s personal journey to empower herself at one of the lowest points in her own life. Learning to use her creative skill to create products people loved boosted her self-confidence and earned her an income when she had nothing else to fall back on.
